Wailing versus Comfort

Revelation 1:7 NKJV — Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

Mourning or Wailing
When the Lord reveals Himself to the world at His second coming there is going to be mourning or wailing. To mourn or wail here means to beat one’s breast because of grief. When the Lord comes on the white horse in Revelation 19, I think those who are still alive will finally realize how foolish they were to reject the claims of Christ I realize the ones who are alive at that time will not be the ones who actually rejected the Lord, but they will have had the same attitudes and will represent those who were physically able to reject Him. They will have lived through pandemics, natural disasters, wars, and deceptions. The Jewish nation along with gentiles who are still alive at that time will have to admit that they foolishly crucified the Messiah.

Every Eye
I used to think some great miracle would have to occur for everyone to see the victorious King when He comes to reign. But I sat in my study last Sunday and preached to a congregation 200 miles away. We used our computers and a program called zoom. I have used zoom for prayer meetings on my phone. We have the technology for every eye to see the Lord when He comes without a miracle occurring.

We see the Lord today by the eye of faith. He has been made known through the written Word in the Bible. But in a coming day “EVERY EYE SHALL SEE HIM.” That would be exciting if it wasn’t also so ominous. The Lord will already have poured out His wrath on an unbelieving world and the great men and rich men and all others will want the rocks to fall on them to hide them from the wrath of the Lamb when the great day of His wrath comes.

Only Two Comings
The Lord only comes twice in the Bible. He comes once as a baby in Bethlehem. He comes the second time to set up His Kingdom. That coming involves the rapture of the saved, the tribulation period and the revelation of Christ as He comes back to the Mount of Olives. Every eye shall see Him at His coming from heaven on the white horse to destroy His enemies and to set up His kingdom. The rapture for the Christian is referred to as a comfort. The revelation to an unbelieving world is a coming of righteous wrath.

The Future
People wonder if there will ever be a new normal now that we have experienced the pandemic and the protests involving racial prejudice. The answer is that likely things are going to continue getting worse and worse and not better and better until the Lord does come and makes things right. No wonder the Lord asks us to pray, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done. On earth as it is in heaven.”

I am glad I’m saved.
